She was the most beautiful woman in the world, proclaimed by the goddess Aphrodite herself. According to the mythology, Helen was half-divine, the daughter of Zeus and queen Leda. The God Zeus transformed into a swan to seduce the queen, which led to their romance and the birth of Helen. Paris was the "handsome, woman mad" price of Troy, and once he saw the Helen, had to have her. Helen was married at the time to Menelaus, king of Sparta, which however didn't stop this story unfold.
The couple ran away together, which started the mythical decade long Trojan War. We will never know whether they've actually existed, but one thing is certain for sure - this love story started the epic war which was sung about many centuries later, even today. And, Helen is remembered as the woman whose face launched a thousand ships to war.
